Instructions

  • Eat exactly as you normally do during the four days you’re keeping a food diary. Don’t eat “healthier” than usual. If you do, you’re just fooling yourself.
  • Write down everything you eat and drink over the course of four days. Ideally, include two weekdays and two weekends. Describe the food and drinks, as well as the amounts, as accurately as possible.
  • Specify the type of food, e.g., low-fat milk, Yoggi 3% fat, whether the cheese is 28% or 17% (fat content), and the type of meat.
  • Don't forget the accompaniments to your meal, such as sauce, jam, milk for tea or coffee, dessert, and sugar.
  • Don't forget snacks, candy, and drinks. Describe the quantities using common household measurements, such as tablespoons, deciliters, deep plates, and glasses.
